Westlock at a Glance
The town of Westlock
is located in north-central Alberta,
approximately 45 minutes northwest of Edmonton
and is part of what is known as the Westlock County. Several communities make
up the county including Tawatinaw, Chisholm, Vimy, Pickardville and others. With
a population of nearly 5000 citizens, Westlock is a friendly mix of urban amenities
with a country lifestyle. Travellers can find hotel and motel accommodations as
well in-town campground sites, restaurants, shopping and services. Two recreational
facilities in town include the Westlock
Recreation Centre and Jubilee
Arena, offering swimming pools, fitness classes, a curling rink, tennis courts
and ball diamonds. Other activities in town include the Westlock
Golf Club, adjacent to which are hiking and cross-country skiing trails. As
for arts and culture, Westlock's heritage is on display at the Westlock
Pioneer Museum, local theatre groups perform shows and host various events.
